Responsibilities

Project Reviews (Core Activity)

Project review is a central part of the apprenticeship journey. In these sessions, the learner walks through their work-in-progress on a real project — sharing what they're trying to solve, the choices they've made, what's worked, and what they're stuck on. As a Technical Mentor, you'll listen, ask questions, point out gaps or risks, and suggest concrete next steps. The goal isn't to write the answer for them — it's to help them think more clearly, recognise patterns and leave the session with a stronger plan.

Main principles of reviewing:

  1. Project review is an analog of a code or a task review with a senior at a real workplace. We want to make it feel like a collaborative experience with a supportive lead in an actual team.
  2. The reviewer adds available time slots and the learner chooses one. Since apprenticeships require learners to study during work-hours (8am-6pm), the times should primarily be added inside this range.
  3. Every project review requires preparation & reflection — the Technical Mentor should come prepared.

A review usually lasts around 45 minutes, while the preparation may take anywhere between 15 minutes to an hour. Preparation and session time are both compensated.

Open Sessions

Open Sessions are drop-in sessions hosted by Technical Mentors, where learners can join to ask questions, work through problems and get help with their projects. Your role is to host, answer questions and help learners stay on track with recently covered topics.

How Open Sessions work:

  • Delivered as scheduled sessions.
  • Learners drop in as needed for guidance, clarification or encouragement.
  • Everything is delivered online.

Expected Qualifications

Industry Experience

  • At least 2–3 years, ideally more, of hands-on experience in a technical role

  • Knowledge about most recent AI advancements and how they affect data analysis, automations and other tasks that data professionals are expected to perform

  • Experience working with real datasets, producing insights and communicating findings to colleagues or stakeholders (for data-focused programmes)

  • A good sense of how data teams operate, including typical workflows, tools and problems (for data-focused programmes)

  • Experience automating workflows using Python, other programming languages or no-code tools (Zapier, Make, Power Automate, n8n, make)

  • Academic experience (e.g. teaching, research, postgraduate study) is welcome, but should be complemented by practical industry work

Technical Skills

  • Creating prototypes or mini tools for automating processes using no-code builders such as Lovable, Bolt, Hostinger Horizons or similar

Python

  • Data manipulation using libraries such as pandas
  • Working with CSVs, APIs or basic scripts
  • Helping learners think through data cleaning and transformation logic

Analytical Thinking

  • Structuring analysis logically
  • Identifying trends and explaining their relevance

  • Comfortable reviewing someone else’s work

  • Able to guide learners through real-world tasks without taking over the work

At least 4 project reviews / month

with additional sessions available for Technical Mentors who want to take on more
