Ten laws of Turing Education

1. Peer-to-Peer studies

Coursework is adaptable so that students can move through the curriculum as quickly as possible. Turing Platform organizes education in a peer-to-peer manner: students code in teams, perform code reviews, and complete peer assignments. Turing College implements the most efficient way of learning – students can learn more by teaching others, as well as gaining mentorship experience.

2. Self-directed learning

Turing College features no scheduled classes or lectures. We are in charge of the education process while students are in charge of their own learning. We will instill life-long learning habits so that students won’t require any other formal education. It’s well known that self-directed learning is the trait that makes someone a mid-level developer.

3. Jobs and career opportunities

Students will transition from graduation to employment smoothly, as our pool of hiring partners constantly competes to hire the best newly minted developers. We have also secured investments from top-tier tech companies willing to hire hundreds of developers every year. Our education and hiring process guarantees that students will get employment opportunities within 6 months.

4. Data-driven education

Our team has created a learning management system for programming which provides teaching analytics for students. Moreover, students can use gathered data to fast-track their employment process. Students can begin the hiring process without even creating a résumé.

We constantly gather feedback from staff members and students in order to adapt our education model as quickly as possible.

5. Real-world skills

Learn through practice by doing project-based work. We have partnered with top IT companies which have co-constructed our curriculum. Our curriculum integrates tasks and projects taken from the daily workflow of the top-performers in the tech industry. Moreover, our programs are built as simulations of company work. Our curriculum is based on the most popular software development approach - Agile.

6. Remote-friendly global community

We are a remote-friendly coding college with a proven track record of preparing students in the Netherlands and in Lithuania. We are based in Vilnius, but students can enrol from almost anywhere in the world. Contact-based learning has its own perks for many, but it is not a prerequisite for everyone’s success. The COVID-19 crisis has shown us that many companies are becoming more open for remote positions. Thus, our students will master the tools and methodologies required to prepare them for work in remote companies.

Mentorship

A good mentor is one who advises rather than dogmatizes, and encourages his students. He or she not only helps average students become good, but good students become great.

7. Diversity and inclusion

We are huge supporters of diversity and equal opportunity. Our goal is to provide a diverse learning environment to all learners.

Turing College is a place for like-minded folks whose diverse life experiences we see as strengths. We strive to become what Bletchley Park once was: a meeting place for the brightest minds from a wide variety of scientific fields.

8. Turing (golden) standard

Our curriculum is designed by using progression frameworks. Progression frameworks are used by top-level companies (e.g. Monzo, Google) to systemize the competencies needed to pursue senior-level positions. We don’t measure GPAs, we measure the maturity of your competencies and the potential to be employed.

Ensuring the real-world success of students is an integral part of our business. Thus, graduate Turing College and we guarantee that you will be hired.

9. Generalist education

We prepare you to become a generalist – a person who can easily navigate uncharted territories where rules are not well defined. Nowadays, many business roles, especially ones at small and nimble companies, require the ability to deal with ambiguity, uncertainty, and lack of clear rules. Being a generalist means taking care of business.

10. Installing a growth mindset

We understand the power of challenges: problem solving develops other skills at an exceptional pace. Thus, we grade in a different manner. Instead of failing or succeeding, we choose “ready” or “not yet” as we focus on progress, not on a test score.

Research driven

We have established a study culture that thrives on research and innovation. We put practical experience above all else. The aim is simple – ensure that content benefits our students.

Soft-skills for international success

Technical skills are no longer enough to get hired. Thus, we focus on developing soft skills that are needed for a successful integration into any international tech company: problem-solving, effective communication, and team management.
